What's Happening- March 19-23

TODAY, Monday is Picture day! Pictures will be sent home in a few weeks – If you like them, send payment to WES office. If you’re not interested in the pictures please send them back to the school office.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our Choir class and Music Teacher Mr. Russell! They were one of 7 schools that performed at COS yesterday and did an amazing job! WES was the only school to get a standing ovation!! Way to represent our school Cubs!! We’re all super proud of you guys! Check out our Facebook page for videos of the performance!

Friday for PBIS behavior students will be doing Fun Friday with Socorro and Vickie they will be coloring eggs in the cafeteria. 1st-3rd will do this from 1:30- 2:00 and 4th-8th from 2:15-2:45. This is for students who are always on task in the classroom and doing everything they need to be stellar students and excellent behavior.

If you would like to donate plastic Easter Eggs and especially individually wrapped candy for the eggs for our Cub Character Easter Egg hunt on March 30th, you can drop off items in the Office. Thank you for your support! It’s time for our Spring Cub Character Events! K-3rd grades will be having their Easter Egg Hunt again at Bel Air Park! This is such a great event that we love putting on for our little ones! On Friday, March 30th we’ll head over to Bel Air Park (weather dependent) for an Easter Egg hunt and a sack lunch from school or home will be had there.

We’ll return to school in time to release for our Minimum Day that day at 12:40. Parents are encouraged to come ~ it’s super fun to watch the kids and we’re always so pleased to see all the Cub Character on display! 4th – 8th grades will have their Cub Character Event the day before (March 29th) and that activity will be announced soon.

Student Council:

We’re planning a Middle School Dance for May 25th so SAVE THE DATE! 8th Grade News: The 8th grade class will go to WHS on Wednesday from about 9am – 12 for PSATs. Please make sure your student gets good rest and a good meal! The Parent/Student meeting at WHS has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, March 21st at 6pm.


Please bring 3-5 pictures of your student to Mrs. Quigley or email to: quigley@weedelem.k12.ca.us for the Graduation slideshow.

Choir Festival at Songs

This week was full of a lot of amazing events. Friday we celebrated our Students of the Month, Cub Character winners and students who met their Check in goals with Pizza.   Our middle school cooking class made delicious corned beef egg rolls, our middle school choir rocked it at the music performance at COS and our first grade class is raising chicks from eggs as part of their science  standards where they are studying molecules to organisms and the growth and development of organisms.

We, at Weed Elementary School, believe that it is our responsibility to provide quality educational programs which foster significant academic achievement for ALL students in a safe environment characterized by mutual respect and acceptance of the individual differences.





If WES students and staff need to evacuate the school for an emergency please do the following:


1. Remain calm- we will evacuate all of our students safely.

2. Please let us get all students to the evacuation sight and meet us there for sign out and pick up.

3. As soon as possible you will be notified with information if we need to evacuate.


If we are evacuating off campus and remaining in the uptown area of Weed please meet us at Son's Field by the high school


If we are evacuating off campus to the downtown area, pick up will be on Alamo by the train depot.
